Pokémon at night: cards with moon, stars and dark scenes

Night cards are the calmest page in a binder: dark skies, moonlight, lanterns, glowing eyes. Side by side they look especially unified because the colours are close. This page shows what is in the selection and what to watch for with such dark cards.

Night in the picture is not the Darkness type

The “Night” theme follows what is visible on the card: darkness, moon, stars, lights in the night. The type of the Pokémon does not matter. That is why friendly Pokémon such as Clefairy sit next to gloomy ones such as Gengar.

If you would rather collect every Pokémon of the Darkness type, choose cards by type in the tool. That gives a different page with different pictures.

The 2000s stand out: with 22 cards they make up almost 40 percent of the selection. The oldest card is Cubone from Jungle (1999), the newest Mega Darkrai ex from Pitch Black (2026). For a page with a classic look, most cards sit in the decade in between.

Pokémon that come back

  • Umbreon: three cards, more than any other Pokémon. Its glowing rings make it the classic night Pokémon.
  • Gengar, Cubone, Murkrow, Clefairy and Duskull: two cards each.
  • In total 48 different Pokémon on 58 cards, so there is hardly any repetition.

Protecting dark cards

On dark cards, white wear on corners and edges shows immediately. So choose a good condition when buying and use sleeves or pockets with a smooth surface.

Light matters too: direct sunlight makes colours fade over time. A binder belongs on a shelf, not on a windowsill. There is a separate guide on condition.

Frequently asked questions

Are these only Darkness-type Pokémon?

No. The theme follows the picture, not the type. If you want every Darkness Pokémon, choose the selection by type in the tool.

Which years do the cards come from?

From all decades, with a focus on the 2000s: 4 cards from the 1990s, 22 from the 2000s, 17 from the 2010s and 15 from the 2020s.

How do I store dark cards?

In smooth pockets in a binder, on a shelf and not in direct sunlight, which makes colours fade over time.
